¹⁴ I will be his father, and he will be my son.^(A) When he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and blows from mortals.

⁴ and so that the Lord will fulfill his promise that he made to me: ‘If your sons take care to walk faithfully before me with all their heart and all their soul,^(A) you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’^(B)
