⁷ The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring^[a](A) I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.

¹⁶ and said, “By myself I have sworn,”^(A) this is the Lord’s declaration: “Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son, ¹⁷ I will indeed bless you^(B) and make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky^(C) and the sand on the seashore.^(D) Your offspring will possess the city gates of their^[a] enemies.^{(E) 18} And all the nations of the earth will be blessed^[b] by your offspring^(F) because you have obeyed my command.”
