¹⁸ Melchizedek, king of Salem,^[a](A) brought out bread and wine; he was a priest to God Most High.^{(B) 19} He blessed him and said:

And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.^(C)

³ Then the tempter approached him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”^(A)

⁷ And he cried out with a loud voice, “What do you have to do with me, Jesus, Son^(A) of the Most High God?^(B) I beg you before God, don’t torment^(C) me!”

⁶ But one without this^[a] lineage collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.^(A)
