⁸ Now in the morning ^(A)his spirit was troubled, so he sent and called for all the ^[a](B)magicians of Egypt, and all its ^(C)wise men. And Pharaoh told them his ^[b]dreams, but ^(D)there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

¹¹ Then Pharaoh also ^(A)called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the ^[a](B)magicians of Egypt, did ^[b]the same with ^(C)their secret arts.

²⁰ As for every matter of ^(A)wisdom ^[a]and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ^(B)ten times ^(C)better than all the ^[b](D)magicians and conjurers who were in all his realm.

¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered ^[a]the king and said, “There is not a man on earth who could declare the matter ^[b]for the king, inasmuch as no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any ^[c](A)magician, conjurer or Chaldean.

²⁷ Daniel answered before the king and said, “As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither ^(A)wise men, conjurers, ^[a]magicians nor diviners are able to declare it to the king.

⁶ So I gave orders to ^(A)bring into my presence all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

⁷ The king called aloud to bring in the ^(A)conjurers, the ^[a]Chaldeans and the diviners. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, “Any man who can read this inscription and explain its interpretation to me shall be ^(B)clothed with purple and have a ^(C)necklace of gold around his neck, and have authority as ^[b](D)third ruler in the kingdom.”
