3 ¶ Te gen yon nonm yo te rele Nikodèm ki te fè pati gwoup farizyen yo. Se te yonn nan chèf jwif yo.
2 Yon jou lannwit, li vin bò kot Jezi, li di l' konsa: Mèt, nou konnen se Bondye ki voye ou moutre nou tout bagay sa yo. Paske, pesonn pa ka fè tout mirak w'ap fè yo si Bondye pa avèk li.
3 Jezi reponn li: Sa m'ap di ou la a, se vre wi: Pesonn pa kapab wè Pèyi kote Bondye Wa a si li pa fèt yon dezyèm fwa.
4 Nikodèm di li: Ki jan yon nonm ki fin granmoun ka fèt yon dezyèm fwa? Li pa ka tounen nan vant manman l', pou l' fèt yon lòt fwa ankò.
5 Jezi reponn li: Sa m'ap di ou la a, se vre wi: Pesonn pa ka antre nan Peyi kote Bondye Wa a si li pa fèt nan dlo ak nan Sentespri.
6 Lachè soti nan lachè, lespri soti nan Lespri Bondye.
7 Pa sezi si mwen di ou: se pou nou fèt yon dezyèm fwa.
8 Van an soufle kote l' vle. Ou tande bri l'ap fè. Men, ou pa konnen ki bò l' soti, ni ki bò l' prale. Se menm jan an pou tout moun ki fèt nan Lespri Bondye.
9 Lè sa a Nikodèm di li: Ki jan sa ka fèt menm?
10 Jezi reponn li: Ou se yon gwo mèt k'ap moutre pèp Izrayèl la anpil bagay, epi ou pa konn bagay sa yo?
11 Sa m'ap di ou la a, se vre wi: mwen menm, mwen pale sa m' konnen, mwen di sa m' te wè. Men nou menm, nou pa vle asepte sa m'ap di a.
12 Nou pa kwè m' lè m'ap pale nou bagay k'ap pase isit sou latè. Ki jan n'a fè kwè m' lè m'a pale nou bagay k'ap pase nan syèl la?
13 Pesonn pa janm moute nan syèl la, esepte Moun Bondye voye nan lachè a ki desann soti nan syèl la.
14 Menm jan Moyiz te leve sèpan ki te fèt an bwonz lan byen wo sou yon poto nan mitan dezè a, konsa tou yo gen pou yo leve Moun Bondye voye nan lachè a byen wo tou.
15 Tout moun ki mete konfyans yo nan li va gen lavi ki p'ap janm fini an.
16 Paske, Bondye sitèlman renmen lèzòm li bay sèl Pitit li a pou yo. Tout moun ki va mete konfyans yo nan li p'ap pedi lavi yo. Okontrè y'a gen lavi ki p'ap janm fini an.
17 Bondye pa voye Pitit li a sou latè pou kondannen lèzòm, men pito pou l' te kapab delivre yo.
18 Moun ki mete konfyans yo nan Pitit Bondye a p'ap kondannen. Men, moun ki pa kwè nan li, yo deja kondannen, paske yo pa t' gen konfyans nan sèl Pitit Bondye a.
19 Men ki bò kondannasyon an soti pou yo: limyè a te vini nan lemonn, men lèzòm te pito fènwa a pase limyè a, paske sa y'ap fè a mal.
20 Lè yon moun ap fè sa ki mal, li pa vle wè limyè a, li p'ap vini kote limyè a ye, paske li pè pou move zak li yo pa parèt aklè.
21 Men, moun ki fè sa ki bon vre, se nan limyè a menm l'ap vini, pou moun ka wè aklè se obeyi l'ap obeyi Bondye nan sa l'ap fè a.
22 ¶ Apre sa, Jezi ale ansanm ak disip li yo nan peyi Jide. Li rete kèk tan la ak yo, li t'ap batize moun.
23 Jan Batis menm t'ap batize moun tou nan Enon, toupre Salim, paske te gen anpil dlo la. Anpil moun te vin jwenn li la pou l' li te batize yo.
24 (Lè sa a, yo pa t' ankò mete Jan Batis nan prizon.)
25 De twa nan patizan Jan yo tonbe diskite ak yon jwif sou regleman relijyon an ki mande pou moun lave kò yo.
26 Y' ale bò kot Jan, yo di l' konsa: Mèt, ou chonje nonm ki te avè ou lòt bò larivyè Jouden an, moun ou t'ap pale nou an? Enben, l'ap batize koulye a. Tout moun al jwenn li.
27 Jan reponn yo: Pesonn pa ka gen anyen si se pa Bondye nan syèl la ki ba li li.
28 Nou menm, nou ka di mwen te di nou sa: Se pa mwen ki Kris la, se voye Bondye voye m' pran devan li.
29 Nan yon maryaj, lamarye se pou nonm k'ap marye a. Zanmi nonm k'ap marye a kanpe toupre l', l'ap koute. Li pa manke kontan lè li tande vwa nonm k'ap marye a. Se konsa, mwen menm, mwen kontan nèt koulye a.
30 Li fèt pou li vin pi gran, pou mwen menm, mwen vin pi piti toujou.
31 Moun ki soti anwo a pi gran pase nou tout. Moun ki soti sou latè, se pou latè li ye, l'ap pale nou bagay ki sou latè. Moun ki soti anwo nan syèl la, li pi wo pase nou tout.
32 L'ap di sa l' wè, sa l' tande. Men, pesonn pa asepte mesaj li.
33 Moun ki asepte sa l'ap di a, li rekonèt sa Bondye di a se vre.
34 Moun Bondye voye a, se pawòl Bondye l'ap pale, paske Bondye ba li Sentespri san mezi.
35 Papa a renmen Pitit la, li ba li pouvwa sou tout bagay.
36 Moun ki mete konfyans yo nan Pitit la, yo gen lavi ki p'ap janm fini an. Moun ki desobeyi Pitit la, yo p'ap gen lavi sa a. Se kòlè Bondye k'ap tonbe sou yo.

3 Te gen yon nonm yo te rele Nikodèm, youn nan Farizyen yo. Se te yon lidè Jwif. 2 Yon lè, nan lannuit, li vin kote Jezi epi li di li: “Mèt, nou konnen ou se yon pwofesè Bondye voye. Paske pèsonn pa kapab fè mirak sa yo ou ap fè a, si Bondye pa avèk li.”
3 Jezi reponn li: “Mwen di w verite a, si yon moun pa fèt yon lòt fwa,[a] li p ap kapab antre nan wayòm Bondye a.”
4 Nikodèm reponn: “Kòman yon nonm ki fin granmoun kapab fèt yon lòt fwa? Èske l ta kapab retounen nan vant manman l pou l ta fèt yon lòt fwa?”
5 Jezi reponn: “Mwen di w verite a, si yon moun pa fèt nan dlo ak nan Sentespri a, li p ap kapab antre nan wayòm Bondye a. 6 Sèl lavi paran yon moun kapab ba li se lavi fizik. Men, lavi Sentespri bay la se nan Lespri li soti. 7 Pa sezi poutèt mwen di w fòk ou fèt yon lòt fwa. 8 Van soufle nan direksyon l vle. Ou tande l, men ou pa konnen ni kote l soti ni kote l prale. Se menm bagay pou nenpòt moun ki fèt nan Sentespri a.”
9 Nikodèm mande Jezi: “Kòman sa kapab fè fèt?”
10 Jezi di Nikodèm: “Ou se yon gwo pwofesè nan peyi Izrayèl, epi ou pa konnen bagay sa yo? 11 Mwen di w sa franchman, nou pale sa nou konnen, nou temwanye sa nou wè, men nou menm pèp Izrayèl, nou pa resevwa temwanyaj nou. 12 Mwen pale avèk ou sou bagay latè, men ou pa kwè mwen. Alò kijan ou ka fè kwè si m ta pale w sou bagay ki nan syèl la? 13 Pèsonn pa janm monte nan syèl, eksepte moun ki te desann soti nan syèl la, Pitit Lòm nan.
14 Menm jan Moyiz te leve sèpan[b] an nan dezè a, se konsa yo dwe leve Pitit Lòm nan tou. 15 Konsa nenpòt moun ki kwè nan li va gen lavi etènèl.”[c]
16 Paske Bondye tèlman renmen lemonn, li bay sèl Pitit li a, konsa nenpòt moun ki kwè nan li, p ap peri, men li gen lavi etènèl. 17 Bondye voye Piti li a nan lemonn, Li pa t voye l pou l jije lemonn, men pou l sove lemonn. 18 Moun ki kwè nan Pitit Bondye a, yo p ap kondane. Men moun ki pa kwè, yo deja kondane, paske yo pa kwè nan sèl Pitit Bondye a. 19 Men sa k fè yo kondane: Limyè a te vini nan lemonn. Men, yo pa vle limyè[d] a. Yo pito fènwa, paske y ap fè sa ki mal. 20 Nenpòt moun k ap fè sa ki mal rayi limyè a. Yo p ap vin jwenn limyè a, paske limyè a ap devwale tout move zèv y ap fè. 21 Men, moun k ap pratike verite a yo vini nan limyè a. Alò limyè a ap devwale tout sa yo te fè nan obeyi Bondye.
Jezi ak Janbatis
22 Apre sa, Jezi te ale nan rejyon Jide ak disip li yo. Li rete la avèk disip li yo epi li t ap batize moun. 23 Janbatis t ap batize moun tou nan zòn Enon, yon kote toupre Salim, paske te gen anpil dlo la. Anpil moun te ale la pou yo te ka batize. 24 Se te anvan yo te mete Janbatis nan prizon.
25 Kèk nan disip Janbatis yo te nan yon diskisyon ak yon Jwif sou abitid[e] pirifikasyon Jwif yo. 26 Alò, yo te vin jwenn Janbatis epi yo di li: “Mèt, ou sonje nonm nan ki te avèk ou lòtbò rivyè Jouden an? Se de li ou t ap pale tout moun nan. Li menm l ap batize moun tou, epi tout moun fin al jwenn li.”
27 Janbatis reponn: “Pa gen pèsonn ki ka resevwa anyen, si Bondye pa ba li l. 28 Nou menm, nou ka sèvi m temwen, m te di se pa mwen ki Kris la. Men, Bondye voye m prepare chemen pou Kris la. 29 Lamarye se pou lemarye. Zanmi k ap ede lemarye a, li sèlman kanpe ap tann epi l ap tande. Li kontan jis pou li tande lemarye k ap pale. Se sa ki fè kè m kontan konsa a. 30 Li gen pou li vin pi enpòtan chak jou, epi mwen menm mwen gen pou m vin mwen enpòtan.[f]
Moun ki vini soti nan syèl la
31 Moun ki vini soti anwo a pi gran pase tout moun. Moun ki soti anba se moun latè li ye. Li pale sou bagay latè. Men moun ki soti nan syèl la pi gran pase tout moun. 32 Li rann temwanyaj konsènan sa l wè ak sa l tande. Men, pèsonn pa resevwa temwanyaj li. 33 Nenpòt moun ki aksepte temwanyaj li a, li rekonèt sa Bondye di se verite a. 34 Bondye voye Kris la epi li fè konnen sa Bondye di. Bondye ba li tout pouvwa Sentespri a. 35 Papa a renmen Pitit la, li ba li pouvwa sou tout bagay. 36 Nenpòt moun ki kwè nan Pitit la gen lavi etènèl. Men moun ki pa obeyi Pitit la p ap janm gen lavi sa a. Pa gen chape pou yo anba kòlè Bondye.”

Jesus Teaches Nicodemus
3 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus(A) who was a member of the Jewish ruling council.(B) 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi,(C) we know(D) that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs(E) you are doing if God were not with him.”(F)
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]”(G)
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.(H) 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit.(I) 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[c] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[d](J)
9 “How can this be?”(K) Nicodemus asked.
10 “You are Israel’s teacher,”(L) said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know,(M) and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.(N) 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven(O) except the one who came from heaven(P)—the Son of Man.[e](Q) 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness,(R) so the Son of Man must be lifted up,[f](S) 15 that everyone who believes(T) may have eternal life in him.”[g](U)
16 For God so loved(V) the world that he gave(W) his one and only Son,(X) that whoever believes(Y) in him shall not perish but have eternal life.(Z) 17 For God did not send his Son into the world(AA) to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.(AB) 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned,(AC) but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.(AD) 19 This is the verdict: Light(AE) has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.(AF) 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.(AG) 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
John Testifies Again About Jesus
22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.(AH) 23 Now John(AI) also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. 24 (This was before John was put in prison.)(AJ) 25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.(AK) 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi,(AL) that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified(AM) about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’(AN) 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom.(AO) The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.(AP) 30 He must become greater; I must become less.”[h]
31 The one who comes from above(AQ) is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth.(AR) The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard,(AS) but no one accepts his testimony.(AT) 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent(AU) speaks the words of God, for God[i] gives the Spirit(AV) without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.(AW) 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,(AX) but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
