¹⁴ Then^(A) one of the Twelve, the man called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests^{(B) 15} and said, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” So they weighed out thirty pieces of silver for him.^{(C) 16} And from that time he started looking for a good opportunity to betray him.

³ Then^(A) Satan entered Judas,^(B) called Iscariot,^(C) who was numbered among the Twelve. ⁴ He went away and discussed with the chief priests and temple police^(D) how he could hand him over^(E) to them. ⁵ They were glad and agreed to give him silver.^{[a] 6} So he accepted the offer and started looking for a good opportunity to betray him to them when the crowd was not present.
