¹⁷ For ^(A)the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, ^(B)in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.

4 ^[a]What is the source of quarrels and ^(A)conflicts among you? ^[b]Is the source not your pleasures that wage ^(B)war in ^[c]your body’s parts?

^11 (A)Beloved, ^(B)I urge you as ^(C)foreigners and strangers to abstain from ^(D)fleshly lusts, which wage ^(E)war against the soul.
